Queen’s Hotel Kandy, one of the oldest hotels in Sri Lanka, would soon be converted to be amongst the top few luxuary heritage hotels in the world. The hotel would also witness the addition of nearly 30 more room to their inventory under this upgrading drive.
General Manager Queen’s Hotel Kandy and Vice President of Galle Face Hotels, Ranjan Peiris, said that the moderation program would commence early next year. “The hotel is over 150 years old and the management had decided to add more luxuary to the hotel by elevating it to be among the top few luxuary heritage hotels in the world tourism catalogue.”
He said that when Galle Face Hotels took over the hotel from Kandy Hotels Co. (1938), it had only 27 rooms, while most of the rooms had shared toilets. “The management increased the inventory to 93, including six suites and also added private toilets to each room.”
“Under the new blue print forwarded by Group Chairman Galle Face Hotels Sanjeev Gardiner to develop the Queen’s Hotel with more rooms, new dining options and an elevated swimming pool too would be added.”
